Your rights under the small necessities leave act M.G.L. c, [sec.] 52D Item Preview   YOUR RIGHTS UNDER AN ACT PROVIDING EMPLOYEES LEAVE FOR CERTAIN FAMILY OBLIGATIONS M.G.L. c, §52D The Small Necessities Leave Act mandates that certain employers provide up to 24 hours of unpaid leave during any twelve month period to “eligible employees.” This leave is in addition to the 12 weeks already allowed under the Federal ''Federal act'', sections toinclusive, of the Family and Medical Leave Act of29 U.S.C.

sections toinclusive, as it may be amended. ''School'', a public or private elementary or secondary school; a Head Start program assisted under the Head Start Act, 42 U.S.C.

sections et seq.; and a children's child care   InMassachusetts enacted a law, M.G.L.Sec. 52D, called the Small Necessities Leave Act (SNLA). This provides eligible employees with a total of 24 hours of unpaid leave during any 12 month period for certain family obligations.

This law covers specific activities that are not covered under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act Small Necessities Needs Another school year goes by and you are not able to tend to your child's educational needs.
